Open doors on WhatsApp
When WhatsApp is enabled for the deployment, OpenApp uses it as a utility channel: invitation PINs can arrive there, and a signed-in member can open a door they already have permission to open by texting the OpenApp number.
WhatsApp does not replace SMS or email. Login codes and other authentication messages stay on SMS.
Invite PIN
Section titled “Invite PIN”If the invite includes a phone number that is on WhatsApp, OpenApp sends one utility message with the PIN and a separate link (the PIN is not in the URL). If the number is not on WhatsApp, the existing SMS is sent instead. A successful WhatsApp send does not also send SMS.
The dashboard shows whether the phone copy went out on WhatsApp or SMS.
Command a door
Section titled “Command a door”Text the OpenApp WhatsApp number from the phone verified on your OpenApp account. Write an open verb and the door’s name, for example:
open main gateפתח שער ראשי
A sentence that only names a door, without an open verb, does not open it.
If several doors match, OpenApp replies with the names and does not open. Reply with open and one of those names. Quiet hours, lockdown, quotas, and step-up policies still apply. When a policy requires confirmation, OpenApp asks you to reply yes (or the equivalent in your language) before it opens.
Unknown numbers get a reply that this number is not an OpenApp account. They cannot open anything.
Replies include a correlation id you can quote to an administrator.
